Customer Survey 2005 - Results

Thanks to everyone for taking part in our Customer Survey 2005 - we had more than double the number return last time. You can see the results as a Graph by clicking the    next to the question. 1. What Crafts do you do with yarn? 

Conclusion - Most people who replied are Knitters, over a third of you Crochet and a few of you do other interesting crafts - Click HERE for a list. There is not really not much change since the last survey.

2. Why do you do these Crafts? 

Conclusion - Family and Friends again figure highly in your reasons and a lot of you are still generous with your time (and money) - Click HERE for some details. More of you are also making for Profit - probably a little EBay influence here.

3. Which yarns do you use? 

Conclusion - As last time, Double Knit came out most popular but 4ply and Aran have dropped a little. 2ply & 3ply have also dropped a bit and, as we suspected, Fashion Yarn use has almost doubled.

4. How many garments do you make per year? 

Conclusion - New Question this year so no comparisons. Lots of you are really busy making 5 or more garments per year - perhaps we should also have asked what the maximum numbers were. Double Knit was the most popular with Fashion Yarns doing very well.

5. Which pattern types do you use? 

Conclusion - Not much change at the top with Adult, Children & Baby all doing well. There was again some interesting answers in the 'other' category - Click HERE for details. But the biggest change was Toys dropping down and Accessories going up quite a bit - probably due to the increase in Fashion Yarns.

6. How often do you ......  

Conclusion - Very little change from last time with over half of you knitting every day and almost a third of you a couple of times a week. It is good to know the 'Art' is still alive and well - keep up the good work.

7. How did you learn to ..... 

Conclusion - Again, as last time, Families featured high with a lot of you teaching yourselves - well done. School has increased since last time - probably quite a few are 're-starters' - see next question.

8. How has the recent revival in Knitting and Crochet affected you? 

Conclusion - New question so no comparison. We were pleased with the number of re-starters but quite surprised there was not many who have actually started. We guess this shows that lots of people knew how to Knit and Crochet but were not doing it. For some of the comments on this subject click HERE.

9. Which Country do you live in? 

Conclusion - Not much change here except there were less overseas customers who filled in the survey. We still have many customers from Countries outside the UK - Click HERE for details.

10. Are you Female or Male? 

Conclusion - We were disappointed by this result - from the names on our customer list we expected many more men - perhaps they just don't like filling in surveys - or perhaps the ladies just like to get their men to pay!

11. What age range are you in? 

Conclusion - Slight changes since last time with less over 60's and more 46 - 59's. Again we were disappointed that there were very few under 30's and NO under 16's, although this may be because their parents don't let them loose with the Credit Card Online. We still need to get our youngsters interested to keep these Crafts alive. The image that all knitters are old age pensioners has again been well and truly quashed.
