March 2008 Updates

This Email Update is slightly late as it took a bit longer than I expected to get over my little Op. Thank you to everyone who has wished me well and a big thank you to the rest of the staff for stepping into the breach so well over the last 3 weeks.

New Items

We have managed to make a bit of room in the warehouse, so have now got the Sirdar Snuggly Snowflake Chunky in stock 'by the ball'.

Also in stock 'by the ball' is the great new James C.Brett Magi-Knit Baby Double Knit yarn. This is flying off the shelves - stripes and fairisle from one ball, and some Pattern Leaflets too, at a great price - must be good.

Stylecraft have brought out a new Luxury Yarn in 100% Merino Wool which we have in stock 'by the ball'. It is a standard DK so should knit to any DK pattern, however they have also brought out a book for this yarn full of gorgeous baby & toddler patterns.

Coming Soon

UKHKA (previously BHKC) are bringing out their own baby yarn in 6 baby colours - 100g balls - 100% Acrylic. It WILL be in stock 'by the ball' and should cost about £1.20 per ball.

We also hope to have some of the Pre-order colours in Sirdar Funky Fur and Sirdar Boa in stock 'by the ball' very shortly.

Sirdar Calico DK is in Pre-order packs at the moment but we will have it in stock 'by the ball' by the end of March. There are some great patterns in the Calico Book we already have in stock and many only take a few balls - one of the reasons we have decided to get it in 'by the ball'.

Sirdar Pre-order Bargain Packs

Sirdar are getting very low on stock of their clearance packs - therefore we have taken the Pre-order section of the Bargain Packs off-line. We have brought in some more packs which are now on the main Sirdar Special Offer Packs page. We will continue to get as many as we can while Sirdar has some.

Please bear in mind that many of them are very strictly 'while stocks last' and we may not be able to get any more. When a pack has sold out we will note it on the website as soon as we can, but there may be a short time lapse. If we have sold out when you have ordered we will let you know by email, so please make sure your email address is correct in the shopping basket.

Winter 2008 Newsletter

Hello and welcome to our Winter Newsletter.

Firstly we wish you a belated happy and prosperous new year.

We are sure that you, like us, really like the new yarns that Sirdar have already brought out. We are also looking forward to seeing the new yarns and leaflets from all the other manufacturers. We were hoping to preview them at our annual 'office day out' at the Stitches Trade Show at the NEC in February. Unfortunately Carole will be in hospital then (minor op) so we have decided the rest of us would feel too guilty having a good time and will give it a miss this year. I am sure all the manufacturers will be visiting us at some point soon with boxes of gorgeous yarns for us to drool over. All yarns will be online as soon as they are available - either 'by the ball' or in Pre-order Packs - we will keep you updated in the monthly updates and on the Forum

We are still having major problems in the office which have been going on since we re-opened after the New Year. For anyone who didn't get the last update I will quickly recap the problems so far.

While the webmaster, and office "boss" Carole, was on her annual New Year break, the computers decided to act up. First the network system gave up which meant the computers could not talk to one another (I managed a few choice words to them). This has now righted itself for no apparent reason.

Then one of the computers refused to 'fire up' but again after a couple of days this also seemed to correct itself. Unfortunately it has continued to 'die' regularly since and we have resigned ourselves to having to replace it very soon.

Carole seems to think that they (the computers not us) were missing her, but we do not believe that is possible! What do you think? My opinion is that she told them to play up so that we would have to keep phoning her for help.

There were other problems with printers and the email programme - the end result of all this is that next year Carole has been told that she must have her holiday in the office.

On a personal note, we are pleased to tell you that Dianne has not broken any further bones (see Summer Newsletter) so we have now decided to let her out of her padded room, so watch this space.

Dianne and I are continuing to 'hand over' the day to day running of CPU Enterprises to Carole (Office) and Dawn (Warehouse), although we will always be available to sort out the computers and cause havoc in the warehouse.

Finally, we hope that the New Year is good for you all, and please remember that our aim will always be your satisfaction.

PS - Peter had a trip to hospital before Xmas for a Hip Replacement, this came as a bit of a surprise as he has been waiting for a knee replacement for a couple of years! He was in hospital for a week and is now walking much better than he has for years. We just need to get the rest of him sorted out now :-) [Carole]
